A very quick summary of Spring 2010 from the various beauty brands – Motifs! There are loads of motifs this year for the Spring collections either on the packaging or the actual product itself. Have a look at my quick round up of the collections for Spring 2010…
PACKAGING
First on the list is Paul and Joe’s Spring 2010 Disney Collection! This collection is simply too cute and for once I can understand why bloggers would describe something as TDF! This collection is TDF…in a cutesy way. If you like cute and whimsical packaging, this collection is definitely for you!

The other collection with motifs on their packaging would be Shu Uemura’s Spring 2010 Collection. There are swirly lines over their eyeshadow tubes. Quite understated.

PRODUCTS
I guess the beauty brand that best fits the theme of this post would be Dior’s Spring 2010 – Lace Collection. It is ultra gorgeous with all the lace patterns on the product! A delicate pretty lace pattern decorates the eyeshadow palettes and highlighters.

Guerlain’s Spring 2010 – Cherry Blossom is another gorgeous collection that is heavily decorated. An absolute gorgeous collection and one of my favourites for this Spring! There are heavy swirls of contrasting shades on the eyeshadows and blushers which are meant to invoke the Cherry Blossom season. These motifs which are not only pleasing to the eye actually do give an added dimension to the actual product – the shades are actually deeper when mixed with the motifs.

I previously mention Paul and Joe’s Disney Collection but Paul and Joe always creates a collection of eyeshadows and lipsticks with their special seasonal prints. They are called Collection Sparkles and the prints are usually from that same season’s clothing collections. The collection this year is a little unique from previous years. Usually each collection would have the cardboard eyeshadow container imprinted with the seasonal motif and there will be matching lipsticks in their matching containers too. This year, instead of the matching lipsticks, there are matching lipglosses in little cute tubs. Very kawaii!!

Clarins too has one item which has motifs in it and might I say, sometimes one is enough. Have a look at the very delicate flowers in this product that seem to come alive in this compact… Absolutedly Gorgeous!

Lancome’s O My Rose Spring 2010 collection has a flower motif too. But unlike Clarins, their flower motif is quite small and very discreet. You probably cant see it in this lousy picture of mine but there’s a rose motif smack right about the lower left hand of the palette.

Finally, the other really really cute motif design for Spring 2010 is Chantecaille’s Les Dauphins Collection which features Dolphins as their motifs! Chantecaille releases palettes that highlight the plight of endangered species. This Spring 2010 collection highlights the plight of the dolphins.

Spring 2010 seems to be filled with motifs. Although there were lace patterns from Dior and Shu Uemura, and a really cute cartoon inspired collection by Paul and Joe, it was predominately flowers – Guerlain, Clarins , Paul and Joe – very fitting for Spring when flowers blossom isnt it?
I am super duper tempted to purchase Paul and Joe’s Disney collection, Chantecaille’s Les Dauphins palette and Guerlain’s Spring Collection. So which collection(s) have you set your eye on? Do you have any favourites or dislikes? Please do share!
Happy Drooling!

My Review:
The La Mer Lip Balm is a truly luxurious item!
A Thick waxy balm that provides much needed moisture to dry lips and nourishes cracked and peeling lips. Has a non gooey/sticky light weight texture. I usually use this at night before I sleep but it would work great as a base for lipsticks/lip pencils because of the texture. When I first received this, I thought I had bought an old product because it was smelling slightly off- a buttery smell with mint but someone has described it as a vanilla shea butter smell to me. It’s pretty minty and tastes sweet.
The only dislike for this item is it comes in a screw top tub – it’s pretty unhygienic to stick one’s fingers constantly into the tub! Oh and the high price too!
VERDICT:
If you have badly cracked or dry lips that need nourishing…try this out! I found it work wonders for my dried up peeling lips. The minty fresh taste is a plus. The only cons would be the unhygienic means of application and the exorbitant price.
Hope this helps!

Dear Readers,
A short wrap up of January 2010 posts since I didn’t write much…
Read about my New Year’s Resolutions at 2010 New Year’s Greetings! I wrote two reviews in the month of January, one beauty related – Guerlain’s Le Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Compact Lipstick and another on gadgets - The Remington Spin Curl Hair Dryer. A brief write-up about Chanel’s ‘one’s all you need’ palette for the eyes called – Chanel Les Regards de Chanel Eye Palette.
Happy Reading!

Have you seen this beauty??

The new LES REGARDS DE CHANEL Eye Palette provides all you need for your eye makeup… sculpt your brows, line and define your eyes with just one palette! Palette includes one eyeliner, one highlighter, two brow definers and two universal flattering brown satin eyeshadows – Les Bruns, the perfect harmony of subtle-to-striking browns.
Exclusive to chanel.com at the price of USD 70 – what are you waiting for? Buy now!
okay…enough of the teasing…
I havent been able to get my hands on this so I have no idea whether the shades are universally flattering but if this does work for you, it would be great for travelling! It would be so convenient for all the necessarily shades to be included within one palette and although there are 2 shades for brow definers, I do believe it could double as eyeshadows too!!
Hope this helps!

Apparently this has been available in Asia since last year. Have a look at Jojoba’s review for her thoughts on this item.

I had previously written about the Remington Hair curler in this post – Beachy waves…The Remington Spin Curl Dryer. The review’s a little late because I cut my hair short shortly after I bought this and I wanted to wait till my hair was longer before I wrote my review…so 7 months since I first wrote about it, here’s my thoughts…
Technical Aspects ~ Its pretty lightweight yet sturdy and compact. The hairdryer and funnel detaches easily although it worries me that it might not remain attached if I constantly remove the funnel. The funnel is made of sturdy plastic too but I wouldn’t advise dropping it.
Drying ~ Voltage is 1600 watts – so i personally feel it’s a little low in power especially since I have such thick hair. Drying takes close to 45mins with my thick shoulder length hair.
Curling Effects ~ the most important question is does the Remington Hair curler truly curls the hair? Well, am afraid to say it depends!
According to my hairstylist, I have coarse, frizzy uneven curl pattern – in plain English, on bad days, my hair looks like a lion’s mane, on good days, it starts looking at a Lion’s mane in the late afternoon. But for some reason, this gadget helps to define my curls…and the funnel truly does create curls for my hair. If I do not use hair styling products, the curls slightly straightened out and i get lovely waves the next morning. If I use hair styling products, the curls last and if I don’t wash my hair, the curls actually last till the next day.
My cousin was interested in this gadget too. She has long silky straight (and I mean really straight) hair. Although the gadget dried her hair well, she didn’t get any defined curls but kinks in her hair. Perhaps its her hair texture and using curling hair products might have helped…
The other issue to consider is the hair length. When my hair was cut in layers and slightly longer than my chin, I couldn’t achieve curls very well because the hair wasn’t long enough for the air in the funnel to spin it around. Once I had longer hair –EG:shoulder length hair, the gadget worked quite well even when my hair was layered.
Ease of usage ~ very easy to use! One only needs to take some hair and place it in the funnel and move it up and down…the hot air from the funnel takes care of the curling so there is no chance of burning your ears/fingers/hair with a tong!
Verdict ~ I love this hairdryer! I guess you can say I am pretty fickle cos while I love creating curls sometimes I do love the straight look too so this gadget serves my purpose. When I cut my hair short again (hehe…in about a week’s time, this would also work fine just drying my short hair).
Hope this helps!

For product description, please see News: Guerlain Le Rouge G
MY REVIEW:
PRICE:
- £25 for 0.12 oz/3.5gram
PACKAGING:
- Heavy bulky reflective silver casing.
- The lipstick holds the mirrors in place.
- If you withdraw the lipstick, the mirror section springs up and there’s actually 2 mirrors (think one is a magnifier mirror)
SHADES:
- 25 Shades + 2 LE from Holiday 2009
- Mix of pinks, nudes and reds.
FORMULAE:
- Sun Protection Factor: Nil
- Texture-wise: Creamy lipstick. Feels lightweight on lips…like you don’t have anything on.
- Coverage: see Effect
- Scent/taste: Slight flowery scent. No taste.
- Moisturising: Very hydrating – no cracking or peeling.
- Lasting power: Very long lasting.
EFFECT:
Definitely a long wearing ls – I wore this at 12pm, 6 hours later – after eating lunch and constantly drinking from a cup there’s still colour on lips – the pigmented colour has dried down to a nice stain… No drying of lips even though its long lasting. You get no shimmer but nice sheen to it
I played with most of the shades – the reds, pinks and plums and I noticed something…there is a difference in the texture and coverage (despite what the sa saying that all textures are the same). Some shades are sheer and applies smoothly, others are pigmented and doesn’t apply as smooth…it kinda feels heavier and thicker. I know because I tested all the shades more than twice on two different occasions cos I bought 2 within 2 weeks! Yup…i know…crazy woman! I have shade #22 Greta – its super pigmented and it doesn’t apply as smooth (well…for it to apply smoothly, i have to apply a little more pressure and it does go on smoothly but then there colour becomes heavy coverage and very full – on ). When compared to #64 Gemma which is sheerer and glides easily on lips.
VERDICT:
BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry I couldn’t resist this lippe. I have 4 and I bought 2 within 2 weeks…am planning more shades but am letting my wallet rest a little first because it is super duper expensive…more so than YSL Rouge Volupte and Chanel Rouge Allure Laques…but if you like lipsticks, you really need to check this out!
The packaging is absolutely gorgeous…more classy than their KissKiss range and I do love lipsticks with mirrors…so convenient with no need of carrying a mirror but I am disappointed with Guerlain…actually I felt a little short changed. I love Guerlain so I have a few of their items – compact foundation, smoothing illuminator etc and all their items come with a black velvet pouch…and for this not to have a pouch…I felt its something that shouldnt be overlooked…especially for an established brand like Guerlain…and a lipstick with a design such as this would need a velvet pouch so much more than the smoothing illuminator. How remiss of the designers from Guerlain! *tsk-tsk*
Other then that…the lipstick itself is to die for – creamy, lightweight, long lasting and actually moisturising!!
Hope this helps!

UPDATED: Apologies. Am such a klutz!! I totally forgot to allow access to my blog again! It’s up and running again.
Dear Readers!
Happy New Year! May the year of 2010 bring you much love, happiness and money! *we makeup aficionados need it to upkeep our addictions right?*
A new year always brings with it new year resolutions…so here are mine!
#1 – Lose Weight
This has been my number #1 resolution every since I discovered the concept of resolutions! haha…but needless to say, i have been unsuccessful at keeping this!
But I most definitely have to stick to this resolution since there is a wedding coming up!! So anyone with tips on how to lose weight and keep it off, please let me know! You can either leave a comment or email me with suggestions!
#2 – Make an attempt to be presentable
Hopefully, I will walk out of the house without pen or clips stuck to my hair this year…
#3 – Use my makeup
With all the makeup stash I have…I really need to make a conscious effort to use my makeup…
#4 – No more impulse makeup buys!
Due to the overwhelming amount of makeup items I have, when purchasing makeup in the future, I am either gonna keep to a makeup list or be very sure of the items I am purchasing. No more impulse buys!
#5 – Purchase a better phone with camera
For some reasons, sales assistants have been really touchy whenever I take out my camera to take pictures of the makeup products. So I am thinking of investing in a new mobile phone with better camera functions. Hopefully I would be able to take better photos for this blog! If you have any suggestions of a good camera phone, please do leave me a comment or email me!
#6 – Purchase items I need.
I have enough makeup to last me more than my lifetime. So I need to divert my cash to purchasing items other than makeup…items which I really need! Like shoes and bags!! hehe…a gal can never have enough shoes or bags right?
#7 – Blog more regularly
I havent been blogging regularly in the past year but am determined to at least post once a week this year. Please do subscribe to the blog to inform you of new posts so you dont have to keep checking my blog for updates.
#8 – Practice my photography skills.
Would like to enhance my photography skills.
#9 – Travel more often.
All those plans of travelling for the past 2 years are gonna be fulfilled this year…or at least try to be fulfilled this year.
#10 – To relax and take things in my stride.
I need to learn that things will work themselves out…if they arent going your way…and even though you made your best afford to get it too…sometimes its best to let it go…
What are your resolutions? Have you had much luck keeping to them ?Please do share your experiences…
Good luck with your resolutions!
