When I heard that Singapore was gonna have their very own Sephora, I was sooooo excited!! I thought finally I could get my hands on hard to find brands such as Smashbox, Trish McEvoy, Cargo, Duwop, Tarte, Philosophy, Nars at much cheaper prices than the UK or US/ Sephora exclusives!!
Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed when I visited the store at Ngee Ann City…apparently I am not the only one. Check out Haru’s post.
The Sephora in Singapore stocked mainly departmental store brands such as Lancome, Clinique and Dior. Am guessing most customers would stick to their regular departmental hunts which often give 20% discounts or gift with purchases… Compared to the UK, the prices were not any cheaper…the Too Faced Borderline Anti-Feather lip pencil costs SGD 34…its GBP 11 (SGD24) at Boots UK. I think I will continue to shop in UK boots where I can actually get free stuff once I collect sufficient points from my previous purchases…
The pluses – Becca is now available in Singapore (previously it was only available at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3) and if you are a fan of Bliss, their skincare products are available too.
Happy Reading!

POST UPDATED (August 13 2009):
I believe another Sephora has open at Ion Orchard, a new shopping centre in Orchard Road. It is reported to be the largest Sephora store in Asia. Please check out makeup stash’ s comprehensive review.
Dear Nutty,
Yes, I am in SG right now and will be traveling to Japan early next week. I used to love trying out Asian beauty products, however most of them are pretty lousy. The packaging is usually cute, but for some reason the quality is not as good as western brands.
I do like checking out Shiseido every once in awhile for their Asia beauty exclusives. I also noticed that Chanel and Dior had additional products for the Asia market.
The only brand I’m really curious about is Sk-II. I haven’t seen too many reviews about that line, however I may have to give it a try to find out!
XoXo,

Hi Happy
Ohhh…you are so lucky to be travelling so much!!!
Its a pity you dont like japanese beauty products because they are really cheap in japan!!!
There probably arent much reviews because SK II is really expensive and the concept of whitening probably hasnt gain much popularity in Western countries. However, I would suggest not using SK II if you have really sensitive skin…
Happy travelling!!

I noticed the new Sephora in Singapore, however the selection was a bit limited. I usually stop into Isetan’s beauty department for Shu Uemura products and for other beauty products unique to the Asian market!
Hi Happy
Are you by any chance in SG now?? Am sure compared to the Sephoras you get in US, the Sephora Singapore must look quite miserable??
What are you favourite Asian brands and in your opinion are Asian or Western brands better??
Thanks again for dropping by and am glad you like reading my reviews! Do let me know if there’s any way I can improve on them.
Happy New Year!
