2009 Spring…What happened to the pinks?

Continuing with my review on the Spring 2009  collections from the Japanese brands…the collections that are not pink!

First, we have Laneige Spring 2009 – Art Play collection with pinks and lilac and pale green with peach.

Lanegie Spring 2009 Art Play Look

Laneige Spring 2009 "Art Play"

If anyone has read my previous posts  (please see Wishing for a White Christmas and Dreaming of a White Christmas) you would know that  i like snowflakes! Laneige Spring 2009 -”Art Play” Collection has snow flake designs on their compact!! too cute but perhaps a little out of place for Spring/Summer??

Next, we have Shu Uemura with the Mirage Collection…

Next, I present Sofina Aube Couture Spring 2009…Aube  has really really great eyeshadow palettes…for Spring, there is the introduction of Aube Couture which features eyeshadow palettes that are shaped like your eye so you know where to  place your eyeshadow! The shades available range from blues to neutrals…

So where’s the pink? Well…ta-da…look no further than this eye popping pink blush from Aube Couture!

This is followed by Kanebo Coffret d’Or Spring 2009 with a very polished but sweet look…

Beaute de Kose Spring 2009 Sweet Beauty Rose

Beaute de Kose Spring 2009 Sweet Dream Bouquet

And my all time favourite…Kanebo Lunasol Spring 2009 – “Bloom”…this is the visual advert that made my heart stop and go “I want to look like that” (followed by a depressing crap …that’s not ever gonna happen!)

Kanebo Lunasol Spring 2009

Kanebo Lunasol Spring 2009 - "Bloom"

There’ are four gorgeous colour combination of eyeshadow palettes in pink, green, purple, a coral/green and a plum…Kanebo Lunasol makes me want to purchase every shadow palette its available (thank god these are not limited edition! I can slowly starve myself on bread and water to purchase them rather then eating biscuits!) …I have a special place in my heart for the purple…especially after seeing Betsy’s post – Lunasol Layer Bloom Eyes #03 Purple Graduation.

In conclusion (haha…couldn’t resist adding that in! gosh i sound so geeky),  there does not seem to be a pink themed only collection for the Japanese brands…I would say its a mix of pale pastels or a pink and lilac theme…best of all are all introduction of the newly formulated eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks!!! I would say that it would be a great idea to check out these brands if you can get your hands on them!

Has anyone gotten their spring shopping list sorted out yet? Or you already are playing with your new babies?? Please do share!

Happy drooling!!

Spring 2009…Nothing but Pink!

2009 Spring…More Pink?

My previous post on the spring 2009 (please see- Spring 2009…Nothing but Pink! ) focused on the various Spring Collections  offered by the Western brands. This post shall focus on what the Asian  (i.e Japanese) brands on are showcasing for Spring 2009.

Did the Japanese brands join in the pink bandwagon as well? That would depend very much on what you think…

Presenting Anna Sui Spring 2009 – Kiss by the Sun Collection:

Anna Sui Spring 2009 Kiss By The Sun Collection

Anna Sui Spring 2009 Kiss By The Sun Collection

I know there’s a pink eyeshadow in the visual…but Kiss by the Sun really sounds more like a summer theme to me…

So what happened to the pink theme??

Jill Stuart Spring 2009 Blossoming Pink

Jill Stuart Spring 2009 Blossoming Pink

Firstly, we have Jill Stuart, a Japanese brand that was very well received when it first debuted (still is very well-received). This brand fits the pink theme really well…and might I add their photo visuals are always damn good!

Ettusais Spring 2009 Collection

Ettusais Spring 2009 Collection

Secondly, there’s Ettusais Spring 2009 Collection – pink and peach lips… and IPSA with a pink eyeshadow and pink lips…

IPSA Spring 2009

And that after that…the spring collections from the various counters are playing havoc with my title…stay tuned for the next round of reviews!

2009 Spring – Nothing but Pink!

Hmmm…there’s only one word to describe Spring 2009…PINK!!!!!!!! If you like pinks, then you are in luck this spring…it seems most brands have created pink looks…

For soft, ethereal pinks, we have Giorgio Armani, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Laura Mercier.

For a slightly stronger pink look, Givenchy, Lancome and Nars would suit.

Off course not all brands were keen on pink (hehe…it rhymes!)…there is Chanel Spring 2009: Bohemian Fantasy, Dior Spring 2009 and Clarins Spring 2009.

In my opinion, Chanel and Dior Spring were mainly neutral shades while Clarins went the purple, green route. Do stay tune for the Spring 2009 reviews…

2009 Spring: Chanel Bohemian Fantasy Collection Review

This is an update from my previous post Spring Review: Dior and Chanel 2009 after I had the chance to see the collection in real life.

Verdict

On the whole, this collection is great! I love neutrals…which this collection has…and red lippies…which this collection has too! You really cant go wrong with neutral shades and red lippies from Chanel!

However… there were some disappointing items…

Top Row: Django & Poudre Universelle Compacte Beige

Bottom Row: Fandango #57 & Vendetta

Nails

Django is a pale peach pink with shimmer. Sounds great… looks great in the bottle. Unfortunatedly its rather opaque and thus turns a milky off white on my fingers…anything that is opaque + milky = corpse fingers on me. But for others who look good in opaque milky shades, this is a nice shimmery neutral.

Vendetta is a dark purple with shimmer. Unfortunatedly…on my fingers, its black with a hint of purple. I wish this would be a dark shimmery purple. Please see All Lacquered Ups’ post on Chanel Spring 2009 – Vendetta and Django where she did a comparison of other dark shimmery purples.

Joues Contrast Blush

Fandango is a shimmery peachy (almost orangey on me)  shade. This would probably work for tanned ladies…but on me – fair skin with red undertones, the sa suggested using it for contouring instead. I passed on this…cos it looked orangey on my skintone.

Pressed Powder

Ok…this I do not get. Why make a pressed powder limited edition??

The Eyes and Lip products were much better in my opinion.  Reviews coming up…do stay tuned!

Hope this helps!

Greetings…

Hi

I am back!!!!!!!!! Well…kinda…let me tell you cleaning is not a joke ok…it took me a day just to clean my bathroom, then another day for the kitchen…by the time I finally cleaned the bedroom…dust was collecting again in the toilet!!! Urghhhh…

I promise I will be back with more beauty reviews…I picked up a Lancome palette during the long haul flight…being bored is a real danger to the wallet and I seriously wished I hadnt dabbled in another makeup brand! I also bought the new Lancome Oscillating Mascara at Duty Free and  finally managed to see the Chanel Spring 2009 collection in real life…gorgeous!! So please stay tuned for their reviews.

Hope your weekend was great!

Oopsie…

I totally forgot to explain why I was posting about bags (please see – My Other Obsession – Clutch bags) and hair accessories (please see – My Other Obsession – Feathers) lately…

You see…I have an event to attend in January…a Conservative Black Tie event…I thought I had a dress ready so all I needed was a gorgeous purse, great low heels and maybe something fancy for the hair…or nice jewellery…but as luck would have it…or rather all hell broke loose describes it much better when i couldnt find my favourite LBD…my LBD probably went the same way my favourite black lady- like wool coat went when they were sent to the dry cleaners…they all disappeared into thin air !

So that means I have to shop for a dress as well…I hate shopping for clothes!! Its either difficult to find the perfect one, or none of the sizes fit or the price is not suitable (i.e costs an arm and leg)…thats why i rather shop for makeup – there’s only one size!! all you need to do is decide if you like the colour!!

Right…I really should get back to sleeping…

Take care everyone!

Beauty Review: Too Faced Borderline – Anti Feathering Lip Pencil in Clear

Too Faced Borderline Lip Pencil.Picture from Sephora

Too Faced Borderline Lip Pencil.Picture from Sephora

Product Description from Too Faced:

A one-color-fits-all anti-feathering pencil that will revolutionize the way you wear lip product.

What it does:
Keep your lipstick and lip gloss from traveling beyond your lip’s borders with Borderline, a matte, colorless lip pencil designed to fill in and plump up vertical lip lines while it locks down your favorite lip products. Apply to the area just outside the natural lip line to forego feathering and to pamper your pucker with skin soothing, moisturizing, and firming ingredients. Our one-color-fits-all wonder pencil will revolutionize the way you wear lip gloss. No more sloppy fading creeping color.

How to wear:

  • Smoothly sketch or draw Borderline on or around lip area.
  • Create a natural lip shape by staying slightly inside the lip.
  • To plump up lip shape apply around your lip area slightly outside your natural lip line.
  • Fill lips in entirely for super control.

  • My Review:

PRICE: GBP 11 or 14 (cant quite recall)

PACKAGING: Comes in a box containing the lip pencil and a sharpener. The sharpener has the words “Too Faced” inscribed on it – soo cute!

    SHADES: One shade – clear.

    FORMULAE:

Texture-wise: Creamy pencil that goes on easily, no tugging of lips. Easy to shade the lips as well.

Moisturising: Would say there are moisturising properties.

    Scent/taste: No smell or taste.

    EFFECT:

I am not too sure about the firming claim but I can definitely say that this helps moisturise lips. With other lip liners, I always end up with badly chapped lips regardless of the type and brand of lipsticks or lipglosses. With this product, I can safely say that I have not experienced any chapped lips.

The best thing about this product is the lack of shade from the liner. I can use this with all my lip products and not worry about the colour changes when I pair my lipsticks/glosses with a coloured lip liner.Your lipstick/gloss shade is what you see from the tube when paired with this liner. This  helps save $$$ especially given our current economy! Imagine all the $$$ you can save from having to purchase matching lipliners…now you only need one lip liner.

Another aspect of saving $$$, you actually get much more wear out of your lipstick/glosses… I am telling you…with this on…I dont need to touch up my lipstick!!! (dammit!! cos that means my lipsticks will take longer to use them up = no buying in the near future of new lippies!) Have not experienced the pesky feathering or bleeding…your lipstick/gloss stays where you put them now…and really stays on…long!

    Verdict

Highly recommended for a one shade fits all requirement.  Helps save $$$ too.

    Hope this helps!
