Beauty Review: Lancome Ôscillation – Vibrating Infinite Powermascara

June 10, 2009

Description from Sephora:

“The first vibrating powermascara by Lancôme. This revolutionary mascara provides 7000 oscillations per minute for ultimate lash transformation. Press the button and experience a breakthrough sensation in application. In one easy new gesture, let the vibrating brush combined with an exquisitely smooth formula wrap every lash up to 360 degrees. With ÔSCILLATION Vibrating Infinite Powermascara, your lashes will instantly appear ultimately extended, exceptionally separated, and virtually multiplied in number.

MY REVIEW:

My lashes: Non-existent wimpy permanently pointed southwards stumpy short lashes that defy curls.

PRICE:

  • £27 for 8grams/8ml

SHADES AVAILABLE:

  • Black

PACKAGING:

  • Long slender black tube with a thin strip of gold on cap (see picture at top) that is the button for the vibration.

BRUSH:

  • Densely packed bristles that are short, stumpy and evenly placed.
  • The bristles are very soft…the whole brush is soft and bendable.

FORMULAE:

  • A really, really wet formulae that takes ages to dry.

EFFECT:

  • Clumpy spidery lashes…
  • Although the mascara brush does vibrate – I couldnt see it actually vibrating or felt the vibrations…rather i heard the vibrating noise.
  • Rather than using a zig-zag motion like traditional mascara, the vibrations are suppose to do that zig-zag motion for you.
  • Unfortunately the mascara brush only ended up depositing alot of mascara on my lashes so it became quite clumpy.
  • I tried to brush the clumps through with the brush head but its so soft that it couldnt do anything
  • I tried using it without the vibration mode and surprisingly it was much better – no clumps and could easily build on more coats.
  • Held the curl
  • But it did smudge…like in less than an hour after I had it on.

VERDICT:

I would recommend this only if you are curious like me (in case you dont know – curiosity killed the cat…).  Extremely expensive mascara.

Hope this helps!
