2009 Wrap Up – The Year of the Lipsticks!

Dear Readers,

How was everyone’s holidays?? I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas!!

2009 is coming to an end soon…much too soon I think! But as the saying goes: “Time and tide waits for no man!” Read on for my thoughts on the Beauty for 2009.

2009 for makeup is a most interesting year… last year we were inundated with mascaras. The mascaras boasted different mascara wands like rubber mascara wands that supposedly allow smoother application and unusual shape wands such as Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara to wands that vibrate – Lancome Ôscillation Vibrating Infinite Powermascara– to create non – clumpy lashes. Please do have a look at the rest of my reviews on mascaras.

This year…the various beauty houses decided to overwhelmed us with lipsticks…hence I dub 2009 – The Year of the Lipsticks!!

The various beauty brands all introduced new versions of lipsticks. Becca introduced their new range of lipsticks called – Sheer Tint  lip colour. Perhaps the most anticipated introduction of the year was  Guerlain’s Le Rouge G which was packaged in a gorgeous silver casing. The Japanese brand Coffet D’or’s also introduced lipsticks known as Rouge Styling. Chanel too jumped onto the bandwagon with their Rouge Allure Laques. YSL meanwhile introduced Rouge Volupte Gloss based on their widely successful Rouge Volupte Lipstick which introduced late last year. Dior also introduced a new lipstick called Rouge Serum. Lancome too introduced a new range of lipsticks called ABSOLU Replenishing & Reshaping Lip Colour SPF 15.

Other notable mentions of the year of 2009 include the debut of a new makeup range by Dolce and Gabbana. Please see – News: Dolce & Gabbana Makeup and Review: Dolce and Gabbana.   Chanel created the limited edition pale minty green nail polish aptly named as Jade – which sadly for many (me included) didn’t even get to see it at the counters because it was already sold out before it even reached our shores…so now I am left lusting over pictures of a mint nail polish called Jade…

2009 was also the year I discovered a few new makeup brands like Suqqu, B Never Too Busy to be Beautiful, and Chantecaille.

In the past year, the following posts garnered the most hits – Creme de La Mer review, Chanel Rouge Allure Laque – Updates, Favourite 2009 Oscars Hair and Makeup, Favourite Dresses at 2009 Oscar and Vanity Fair Party, Review: Lancôme Magic Voyage Palette and Review: Chanel Les Tissages de Chanel Blush Duo Tweed Effect

Please do share your thoughts on 2009!

Let’s hope 2010 brings much more interesting discoveries for makeup!
