The second day of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s 2011 Canada Tour.
JULY 1, 2011
The Duchess wore the very same Reiss Nanette dress that she wore for her engagement photo shoot with Mario Testino (featured here) when she attended the Canada Day festivities on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill.
Matching her scarlet pumps is her scarlet maple-leaf-topped fascinator by Lock & Co’s Sylvia Fletcher. She carried an Anya Hindmarch fan-shaped clutch and wore the same Tiffany & Co Diamond by the Yards bracelet on Day 1 which she matched with her Erdem navy lace dress (featured here). On her feet are scarlet Hobbs Albini Square Cut Court Pumps. For some extra sparkle, she pinned on Queen Elizabeth’s maple leaf brooch, which she was gifted during her own visit to Canada in 1939! She’s wearing Kiki McDonough’s White Topaz and Diamond Earrings from the Grace collection (available here).
For the evening Canada Day concert, the Duchess changed into a royal purple Issa silk jersey dress (below).
She accessorized the look with black Prada heels and a black Anya Hindmarch Maud clutch. The Duchess wore the same Queen Elizabeth’s maple leaf brooch that she wore during the day and added diamond drop earrings. Departing from her normal loose flowing curls, she wore her hair in an elegant updo.
Thoughts: The white and red ensemble is simply smashing!! Athough some critics said that her ensemble is too ‘matchy’ and she should have worn nude heels, I think nude heels would not create that ‘pulled’ together look. If the Duchess had gone for a red clutch, that would be too matchy. I think she succeeded in creating a whole look without going overboard with her accessories. If you are looking to purchase the same Hobbs’s shoes, I am afraid to say Hobbs does not ship international. It’s a pity they don’t ship international because they carry quality products that are reasonably priced.
