CHANEL’s Spring-Summer 2012 took place underwater…
There was an abundance of pearls used as decorations on the models in keeping with the aquatic theme.
In particular, pearls were used as decoration on the models’ wet hair.
“Wet hair that’s down is a little sad,” said hairstylist Sam McKnight, who went for loose, imperfect chignons instead.
“The idea is, you’re in the sea and come out, push your hair back, and throw it into a chignon.” After giving the hair its wet finish—by dousing it with water, and then slicking on plenty of Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte and a hair mask—McKnight twirled it into a bun. Though he pinned the bun in place, he let the ends hang out so it wouldn’t look too perfect. To give the look even more sheen, he added gel above the ears and Fekkai Glossing Mist shine spray all over.
According to McKnight, “The pearls are Chanel pins. If you look closely, you’ll see the double Cs on them.”
I hope the pictures are useful inspiration for weddings!
