The Duchess of Cambridge has carried LK Bennett’s Natalie Natural Clutch very often. The pictures below show her carrying the natalie clutch during her USA/Canada Tour in 2011.
Natalie Natural Clutch is described on LK Bennett’s website as:“Natalie’s diminutive shape, hard-side construction and neutral leather covering make it a great addition to any wardrobe. This versatile piece easily coordinates back to our neutral shoes and belts. Coveted by some of the world’s most stylish women, Natalie is your new essential clutch. Available in Natural Leather.”
Thoughts: I was very hesitant to purchase this clutch because of the price. At £160 (+ £20 for international delivery), it is very expensive. If you factor in its tiny size [6″ x 4″ x 1.3″ or 15.5cm (l) x 4.5cm x 9.5cm (h)] and the fact that there are very few occasions when I need a clutch in my life, it becames extremely expensive.
However, because of the neutral shade, I figured this would be less formal than say the Charlie Clutch by Wilbur and Gussie (reviewed here) and depending on the attire, it would most likely pass for day time events which as a matter of fact is how the Duchess has mostly used hers. So I bit the bullet and waited for delivery…
Delivery arrived fairly quickly in a huge box. Although the clutch was wrapped in several sheets of paper, there was no dust bag to protect the clutch.
Size-wise, it isn’t as tiny as I expected. My Samsung Galaxy II can fit into the clutch and there definitely is enough space for car keys, tissue and a tiny card case! There’s also a chain strap that’s very convenient for occasions when you need to be hands-free (shown in second photo). The strap length is 21.5cm.
The colour is gorgeous! There’s actually a slight gradation of the neutral shade on the clutch. From the above photo, you can see that there is a cream mixed together with a darker ‘beige’ making it very, very pretty!
Unfortunately, I am extremely upset with the clutch. Although the LK Bennett website described the clutch as ‘Natural Leather’ [see image above], the clutch I received did not feel like leather. It felt distinctly scratchy.
Close up details of the material covering the clutch
Customer services assured me that all LK Bennett bags were made of leather and while the clutch might feel like straw, there’s leather inside.

The delivery invoice that accompanied my delivery also described the product as ‘Natalie – Straw Box Clutch‘!
Verdict: While this really is a gorgeous clutch, I wish the description had been accurate so that when I paid for the item, I knew what I was paying for.
